We have an immediate requirement to fill the role of Help Desk Specialist. Reporting to the IT Manager, the Help Desk Specialist is responsible for maintaining, supporting, and enhancing the IT infrastructure. This is a challenging position that is best suited for an individual with strong hands-on technical skills and who can provide full support in a diverse operating environment for onsite and remote users.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Provide first line support and technical assistance to internal (on- site and remote) and external users
  • Troubleshoot, configure, deploy hardware and software, and ensure workstation configuration is consistent across user groups
  • Perform application installation, re-installation, configuration, and upgrades
  • Support server network and firewall administration
  • Monitor Daily/Weekly/Monthly Backups
  • Manage Office 365 environment, and Spam filters
  • Manage, configure, and upkeep of Anti-Virus
  • Resolve router and connectivity issues as necessary
  • Systems monitoring and reviewing various logs (Anti-Virus, Website, San, Server, etc.)
  • Ensure system reliability and uptime standards are met
  • Capacity planning and system upgrades
  • Identify system and process improvement opportunities
  • Execute security procedures for safeguarding hardware and software physical and virtual assets
  • Control access of systems and file shares, ensure security and contingency planning; ongoing customization and maintenance of system access facilities to ensure and enforce strict security of the environment
  • Track hardware inventory and communicate resource requirements
  • Assist with hardware and software setup for business presentations, and trade shows
  • Support the IT Manager and Project Manager

Skills required:

  • 1–3 years’ experience in Information Technology or combined with education
  • Microsoft Certification a plus
  • Excellent command of the English language (oral and written)
  • Excellent organizational skills, time management with ability to prioritize multiple conflicting priorities
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills
  • A strong technical aptitude and ability to quickly learn
  • Strong ability to resolve technical challenges and research solutions
  • Hands-on software and hardware troubleshooting experience
  • Experience working with Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, and Microsoft IIS
  • Experience working with RAID controllers
  • Experience with Arcserve Backup
  • Working knowledge of Hyper-V, VMWare, Windows Server 2008-2016, Windows 7 and 10, Kaspersky Antivirus, and Office 365
  • Experience supporting users onsite and remote
  • Working knowledge of Avaya phone systems
  • Adept at reading, writing, and interpreting technical documentation and procedure manuals
